IPPF-FIPP Vice-President Dr. Alejo García Basalo represented IPPF-FIPP at the Fórum sobre Segurança, Desenvolvimento Humano e Coesão Social (Forum on Security, Human Development and Social Cohesion), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. April 15-16 2024, an event convened by the Latin American Permanent Committee for the Prevention of Crime, which is part of the Latin American Institute for the Prevention of Crime and Treatment of Offenders (ILANUD) of the United Nations. Dr. García Basalo provided an assessment of IPPF-FIPP’s history, and introduced participants to IPPF-FIPP’s new strategic plan, along with its ongoing commitment to the international community by contributing to the development of humane, evidence-based penal and penitentiary standards, policies and practices which protect the human rights of all involved.
